Preliminary Data for Magnesium Sulfate

We made several runs at concentrations close to the eutectic concentration of 17 wt%. Here are two typical examples.

• Run at 50 MPa. The run extended over 5 days; the time between images is typically 1 minute. Note the multiple crystal forms coexisting at the same temperature. Gravity points downward, so the rising crystals partway through the movie are less dense than the surrounding liquid.
• Run at 200 MPa. The run extended over 5 days; the time between images is typically 1 minute. Again, a number of different crystal forms were observed.
• Run at 350 MPa. The run extended over 3 days and displayed a variety of crystal forms.
