No. In reality, the entire body of the person, including the toupee would move upward at the same speed. This is because the normal force acts on the person and all objects so when the normal force is less as the elevator goes up, go is the downward force of all the objects in the elevator. If the toupee hit the roof of the elevator, the man probably would too :)
as long as the person is not tied to the floor in any way no...in order for that to happen the toupee would have to be falling at a slower speed than the person. The person and the toupee are falling at the same speed with equal accelerations equal to gravity, the toupee would merely be "hovering" above the mans head. .
no it can not. the person is accleraing at the same rate as the toupee so if the elevator stopped suddenly both the toupee and the person would move up quickly.
The person should feel like his weight is greater since acceleration is going against gravity. When the elevator stops rapidly, his body weight will decrease rapidly and he will feel the sensation of going up. However, because the rug is is on the man it shouldn't raise off of him because it is expiriencing the same - acceleration at the same time s the man.
This could probably not happen because I am sure that the toupee would be glued down with something, but let's for arguement sake say that it is not glued down. Then the sudden stop in the elevator would probably make both the man and the toupee move up so that the toupee would not come off, it would remain glued to his head.
This can't really happen because inertia affects the two masses (toupee and person) equally, so they will both rise and fall at the same rate. However, when an object falls, a breeze is generated (use object falling as reference point, air particles are not moving.) This wind can easily lift the toupee off the person's head since the toupee has more air resistance than the person.
This cannot happen without the person being tied to the floor of the elevator. The reason for this is that the toupee is moving just as fast as the person. The only way the toupee would move is if the person moved with it.
