The Web is quite useful for delivering content and administering quizzes, and for giving students quick feedback on whether their answers are correct or not. But it can also be used to give the instructor timely feedback on how the students are progressing. In this talk I will describe how I am using Web-based problems and essay questions to both evaluate student progress and to guide and shape my classroom presentations.

Although this presentation is geared towards quantitative disciplines, I believe the general principle of having Web-based feedback of some sort due shortly before class time, and then using that feedback to shape the class presentation, could profitably be applied in almost any discipline.
